Dancing Architects: Performative Architecture
Temporary Pavilion Proposal
This Project seeked to translate the art of dancing into a spatial design.
In this project I used Tchaikovsky’s Swan Lake ballet as inspiration to create an experimental three-dimensional space proposal that would reference both the dance movement and the sonic piece. I started by translating the music score into 4 diagrams, each drawn whilst listening to the music. Once I developed these drawings I was able to interpret them as spatial ‘zones’, using colour code to start to program the spaces and components. From here I translated the two dimensional drawings into a three dimensional card paper model which represented two key designs - the arches and the water /waterfall. In order to show how the pieces would interact with each other and the dancers I create a stop frame animation. In the end, I wanted my final drawing to be a reflection of my journey throughout the project. Here, I am incorporating all key techniques that I have learned - From sketching, making paper models which then I photographed to finally transforming it digitally in Procreate.
